Repro G.Sprgr.30 for Display

This reproduction of the German Gewehr Spreng Granat 30 is made in USA from machined steel and ground dug original Bakelite pieces. This is a near-perfect reproduction on the outside, however some of the internal details were not replicated so that this copy can never be made functional. You will receive the one in the photos. Described part-for-part below:

This is the simplified late war model grenade. The bakelite base and nose plunger are original ground dug parts.The bakelite itself is in good condition, but the steel bottom of the rifled base is pretty rusty.

The body of the replica is machined and painted yellow and also has the correct 44 date and manufacture ink stamp. The yellow paint is a close match to the original yellow color and is very lightly applied just like most of the originals I have seen that still had paint. The paint may have slight chips or wear from being handled around the shop. The stamp will come off if rubbed hard but should remain crisp when handled normally. The threads on the body will accept original parts (an original nose piece or Bakelite base.) I can not guarantee it will fit all original parts, but it is interchangeable with the originals that I have in my collection.

The nose portion is machined steel with an original Bakelite plunger. The Bakelite is in good condition but the steel firing pin is heavily rusted and damaged but it is hidden inside anyway. The shell of the nose has no wrench grooves which was common depending on manufacturer and has a very nice and correct stamp in the material.  The stamp lists the fuse name / 44 date / manufacturer / lot # / approval mark and is very crisp. Unfortunately, I can not get a good picture of the whole stamp. The shell is much heavier than an original because it is turned from solid material and not stamped steel, as the original would have been. This was done so that the clockwork mechanism of an original would not function inside this nose piece even though this nose will accept original parts; again I can not guarantee that all originals will fit, but the ones in my collection do.
