Very cool pre war German carbide bicycle lantern. I had this on my bike for a while but recently swapped it out for an electric light. I love the way these lights are suspended like a springer front fork on an old motorcycle. The light has its own suspension system to help dampen vibrations.  The light is mostly complete but the spring is rotted. It shouldn't be too hard to replace the spring and technically it would still work without it. This type of light was on its way out by the start of WWII but were very popular in the late 1800's and early 1900's.

To mount this light your bicycle does need the correct standard mount for these early lights. its basically a protruding flat plate that this can just slip on to. It wouldn't be hard to craft one yourself from some flat stock. Finding an original mount likely wouldn't bee too difficult either as this type of mount was used all over the world for many years.
