A little about the Cadet Nurse program: To recruit as many women as possible, the requirements for joining were not set high. Women between the ages of 17 and 35 with high school education and in good health could apply. Marriage as a student was permitted. Cadet nurses received federal funds for tuition, board, room and uniforms (indoor and outdoor) in addition to a regular monthly allowance.
