Description
Standard Luftwaffe pattern candle lantern made of steel rather than aluminum, which generally means this is a wartime piece as opposed to an earlier aluminum one. This one has clearly seen a long service life with a few coats of paint. One of the glass lenses is cracked. There are two holes poked directly in the top, as I assume it was likely getting too hot for someone's liking. The actual little cup for holding the candle is also missing. These lanterns can be found with original clear, red, blue, green, or yellow glass. I believe they were used for many things, including as temporary landing lights.
