Original large aluminum army barracks water jug marked MN 39. It is in overall decent usable condition, but needs a very good cleaning. It shows a lot of wear / oxidation (especially on the inside). It has small dents and dings from use. The rim is slightly misshapen. Someone drew an X to point to the markings.
These are synonymous with barracks life in the German army. You frequently see them in photos and often drawn into cartoons and comics. Virtually every squad room in the barracks would have one of these along with a few big aluminum washing up bowls. One man from the room would fetch fresh water to have on hand for washing up.
