An interesting set of saddle bags likely for a bike or motorcycle made from WWI Tornister packs. It is currently adjusted to fit over a luggage rack or fender measuring about 9 1/4" across. I am not sure if it could be made wider with the current leather straps but it obviously has some adjustment to be made smaller if needed. These were clearly used and weathered, but are actually still in pretty solid usable condition. Really the worst of the wear is the the fur falling off the one unmarked tornister. One pack is maker marked 1917 and I could not find any marking on the other pack. It is very difficult to say when this was made into saddle bags, I would say it could be Weimar era, or even up to the 1990's. This seems to have been a fairly common thing to do as I have seen a few other sets over the years.
