  • Description

1941 dated example of a communications pouch. This would have been worn by a field phone operator and contained some basic wire laying tools as well as a message tablet and pencil.

It is in typical condition for one of these pouches; ie. fairly worn. The leather is soft and flexible but sort of dry. The stitching is fairly rotten and appears to have started blowing out even when it was still in active use as there is some thick black thread along the bottom seam. Some of the seams are blown out. The internal divider has been removed. Both ends of the extremely rare shoulder strap are present but the strap is missing basically the entire middle bit.

This would be a great piece to either rework and rebuild or to use as an example.  With some work on the stitching and a new strap made from the existing hardware, this would be a very nice piece. If you set your mind to it, repairing this could be done in an evening and would make for a very rewarding project.
