Description
Vintage (probably post-war 1950s) German Merkur 15 meters of pink elastic band. "The trademark for well-known and good bands and litzen (braids)." It is new old stock and has some of the clear wrap still on it (although most has come off) I am unsure of when exactly this is from, as it has no markings to indicate a date; I am guessing it's 50s, but it would still work well for 40s sewing projects (especially lingerie). Overall good condition with some light wear, mostly to the box.
Elastic use in clothing dates back to the 1800s, although its use was not widespread (it was also made differently and not as reliable as the modern version - which was first used in the early 1900s).
