Original SS Wool Blanket

Original SS blanket. Like the Wehrmacht, the SS used a variety of blankets, this is one of the variations that can be well documented based on period photos like the original photo pictured. Like many blankets, this one has no markings and probably never did.

The blanket is quite soft, almost like a flannel feel. It is probably some sort of blended material and probably not a pure wool. It is fairly clean and in overall good condition with one period repair and 2 small holes.

The top and bottom edges were originally surged with white thread. The surging is mostly intact along one side and has several areas of pulled surging with loose threads along the opposite side. Along the long edges, there are brown edge threads that stick out near the black and white stripes, these are original manufacturing defects common to blankets woven this way.
