    Vintage 1940s WWII American Red Cross Military Welfare Service women's uniform.

    Jacket:
    Bust - 38"
    Waist - 32 1/2"
    Length- 26"
    Skirt:
    Waist - 26 1/2" (button has been moved in, can be taken out another 1")
    Hips - 37"
    Length - 26"

     

    Dark gray wool uniform named to Peggy Gearing. Smith-Gray tailor's labels.  She served in Antwerp, Belgium in 1945; among her duties were helping to reunite families in war-torn Europe. 

     

    CONDITION: OK with scattered moth holes and stains. There is some mothing on the collar, sleeves (especially the cuffs), and the skirt. There is staining on the sleeves, the back and the skirt. The lining is stained and has a small hole.

     

    The newspaper article is an announcement of her engahement from the March 29 1947 issue of the New York Times.
