• Women's Marine Corps Hat Named AS-IS (Size 21)

  • $125.00 USD

  • Description

Original WWII women's Marine Corps hat. Named to Frances Louise Schlak. Size 21. It is in OK condition. It is bent and needs reshaped (it doesn't look too bad when worn, but not on a head, its quite noticeable). There are several moth holes. The inside shows wear. The buttons on the side have some brown stuff on them (not sure how to describe it; see photos). Still could be worn again. The red cord has some loose strings.

Frances Louise Tippie (maiden name Schlak - her father was a German immigrant) was born Sept. 4, 1922 in the family farmhouse in Bloomingdale, Illinois; she later moved to Orange County, California. Fran was one of the first women to join the Marine Corps, enlisting in 1943. She was an instrument flight instructor with the rank of Corporal.
