Vintage 1940s WWII American Red Cross Production Corps uniform dress and hat.

    MEASUREMENTS (approximate):
    Bust - 35"
    Waist on Dress - 30"
    Waist on Belt - 28"
    Hips - 36 1/2"
Length - 37" (hem can be taken down 2 1/2")

The dress has mother of pearl buttons shank buttons with cotter pins. There are dark blue cuffs and epaulets. The hem may have been shortened as the last button hole is covered so it can't button closed. No attempt has been made to clean this. There is some staining (water staining by the pocket and miscellaneous brown specks and smudges throughout). Slight yellowing along the hem.

The hat has some staining (make-up?) and brown specks (on the inside headband and on the outside). It is safety pinned in place.

The Production Corps was the largest of the Red Cross Volunteer Special Services. They made and repaired 64 million pieces of clothing, prepared over 2.5 billion surgical dressings and assembled 30 million comfort kits for use by the US military and its Allies as well as civilian victims of war. In 1942-43, there were 3.5 million volunteers.
