German Aluwa brand aluminum bread/sandwich tins. Price is for one tin. A good bread bag stuffer to keep your sandwich safe. These are sold as-is; most have some random writing on the top (that may clean off with acetone). They may also have tape residue, or slight dents. The inside may be a little dirty as well.
Aluwa made these before, during, and after the war. These ones are probably NVA postwar but do not have the postwar markings I usually see on postwar made Aluwas. These were an important part of everyday life for Germans, so it is no wonder they found their way to the front lines as well. Bread tins are frequently found by battlefield diggers across Europe and Russia. They were even being produced as early as WWI. They are pictured on the cover of the 1939 Der Sportler catalog.
They measure approximately 6 7/8" by 4 1/4" and are about 1 1/2" deep.
