Large Ration Sack H.Vpfl. 1943
Original 1943 Heeresverpflegung or "army supply" sack in very good condition. The markings are faded but un-messed with (many sacks were de-nazified after the war).
These were essentially a catch all for rations. One standard bag that could be filled with anything from coffee beans to cans of food or loaves of bread. These were just a convenient way to package large amounts of something for shipping.
These are great for rations displays. I have several filled with padding that pull double duty as a display item and an unbelievably comfortable bed. On an interesting side note, I frequently see these sacks tuned into makeshift mattresses, it is unclear if this was done during or after the war.
