The buttons are decorative and sewn in place. There is a snap up top and it opens down to the waist. The photos make it look like there is some overall fading, but I do not notice any in person. Repair on one shoulder (I took several photos of it from different angles). A few small pinprick holes. Light staining under the arms. Belt loops (that are barely holding on) but no belt.
