These are a mix of new and old. The boxes are original, German shoe brush kit boxes which we picked up in Germany. The boxes themselves seem to have been made in Latvia as there were some partial paper labels on a few. The Putzzeug marking is original. The brushes are new made German brushes that we marked "Wehrmacht u. Arbeitsdienst". We have also included a period German fingernail brush and one of our reproduction HEER cloths. The brushes vary a little in color of the bristles, size and shape but all are relatively similar (variations shown in some of the pictures.) According to the manufacturer in Germany, these are all identical so I guess not all Germans have the same level of OCD as we have been led to believe. It includes a full set of the normal shoe brush type, 5 brushes plus a bonus fingernail brush.
The wood boxes are deadstock from a building clean out. These have been stacked up for many decades in storage. Some are a little dirty some have wood worm holes. I dug through a massive pile of these to find the best ones. Some almost look newly made, but I can tell you that based on the rotten ones I chose not to bring back, these really are quite old. The center of the stack just survived much better. I did also show the general variation in condition of these boxes, and the ones pictured in the listing are a good representation of what you will get. These are very similar to the cleaning kits which were made für Wehrmacht und Arbeitsdienst. Most of the brushes have had this marking added to them.
These shoe kits were originally made by small manufacturers and had a number of variations. This is not an exact replica of any specific kit, just something based off of a number of original examples and these rather nice original boxes that I happened to find. It would not be out of place in any Kaserne.
Price is for 1 kit which includes: box, 6 brushes, 1 cloth. Extremely limited supply and impossible to restock in any meaningful way when they are gone.
