• ZZ42 Reenactment Fuses 6 pack

  • $30.00 USD

  • Description

Spare fuses for our reenactment mines (trip alarms). Provided here with the R-clip in its unmodified form as I do not know if you are using these for the stock mine or the schu mine and the clips are modified differently for each.

    What's included:

    • 6 × ZZ42 complete with spring, plunger and with unaltered R-clips
    • 6 × replacement ZZ 42 spring housing
    • 6 × replacement ZZ 42 base

The ZZ 42 has a 3D printed resin body with a spring, plunger, and a pin. These parts were designed to look good, work well, and be cheap and easy to replace. The springs, plungers, and pins are basically off the shelf parts you can order directly elsewhere online. The plunger is simply a 3/16" universal hitch pin turned down a bit on the end. The pins are actually just RC model car R Pins 25×1.4×10mm which I straighten out a bit as they come with a slight bend. Feel free to buy these directly from other sources online and cut me out of the loop entirely. You might even be able to find something better. These fuses are not 1:1 interchangeable with original plungers. I had to print the spring tube a little thicker for durability. You can't put an original firing pin and spring in these. The base of the ZZ42 has a Phillips head slot to help you remove it if it is damaged or stuck in the mine.

I will happily encourage you to just go buy the other parts directly, it saves me time and you money and it will mean you can keep your mines serviceable even if I can't keep up the inventory.

For the springs and for the clips.

The universal hitch pins are 3/16" x 2". You can buy them at Tractor Supply, but you might just want to shop around as they are pricey there. I find the ones that come with multiple holes are much more agreeable to use. I turn down the tip in a lathe, but I am sure you can come up with something.

Notes on the R-clip: You might be able to find or make something better. Even these ones need bent a bit to work for either mine. You need to flatten out the bend in the clip for the stock mines, or bend the loop to 90 degrees and smush it flat for the schu mines. To reproduce the original clip for a reasonable price would mean ordering tens of thousands. It is not practical at this time.
