WWI Enameled Essenträger Food Carrier

WWI era German army back pack food carrier thermos. This has a nice enameled liner which is actually in rather good condition. Despite a few chips in the enamel, this is one of the best ones that I have ever seen. The main outer can has an even coat of surface rust but not serious damage. There is evidence of a couple coats of paint one of which is the typical WWI green gray equipment color. The front of the carrier is embossed with the maker and embossed on the lid is a warning not to place the carrier on the fire. The lid even still has the original rope gasket. The two wing nuts are complete, not broken, and turn freely. These were used well into the WWII period which is why its often difficult to find the older ones. These saw a lot of abuse and generally did not survive very well. This is probably one of the better Essenträgers you are likely to find if your looking for an enameled one. It would be a good idea to get this one before I decide to keep it.
