German solid aluminum restroom knob set with lock and occupied/free indicator. Besitzt/Frei. This hardware style is typical of the 1930's-70's. Its also difficult to date items like this as they often remained installed for decades and were so common that they become associated with many eras. It is missing one of the lock knobs. I am sure this could be installed using some other modern components for the latch and lock. These very basic looking aluminum knobs really got going in the 1930s during Germany's big rebuilding efforts. But companies were also slow to make changes and would produce identical stuff well after the war. At any rate, this is just fun. I picked up two sets and hope to one day install one at my house. The blue strip is just a zip tie keeping the pieces together.
