Original U.S. Made German Tellermine 42

This is an original U.S. made training dummy of the German Tellermine 42. These were made by a toy company in the US during the war to be used as training aids for disarming German landmines. Some models included various cap fired fuse mechanisms to let the person training on it know clearly when they made a mistake. This one does have the mock up of the main fuse still inside and is does have the additional side and bottom fuse wells (currently covered by green tape) which were for various fuses including anti tampering devices.

This is a nice, fairly clean example which I have owned for a long time. They did a fairly good job making a representation of the German mine, although they did neglect a few details that were unimportant to training. Many people try to sell or pass these off as German mines, but I find the truth to be far more interesting. The little fuse is quite rare to find with one of these, as they often get lost.
