Description
Period German map board. Typically used for artillery plotting or by officers. It is a nice wooden frame with an aluminum plate and a sheet of clear plastic to allow you to put in a map and use grease pencil to your hearts content. This one has a leather loop for a writing implement and 2 eyelets for a leather carrying strap.
These are interesting. I have found one or two that I know were Wehrmacht used, I have also found similar ones that were postwar and used to hold menus at restaurants and I know there is a slightly more modern version still used by archeologists. The layout of this one is like that of the military marked ones I have found, but the materials do seem a bit newer. It is very well made. This is a very nice one for a display or for reenacting.
