Description
Vintage WWII US Marine Corps Women's Reserve (USMCWR) summer hat. It is a size 21 1/2. Made by Knox. Overall good condition with some wear. The white braid on the front is slightly discolored. There are a few light stains on the hat (mostly on the brim), there is a mark by the insignia. The inside sweatband has some staining and there are some issues where the insignia is screwed in. It is wearable as-is; the stains are light and not too detracting.
The hat actually measures closer to 20 1/2" around the sweatband. However the Marines were taught to store their hats has often led to them shrinking. They can be stretched back out with a hat stretcher. Almost every USMCWR hat I have come across measures smaller than the listed size. I have not noticed this frequency with hats for any other branch.
