  • Description

Prewar metal vending machine egg-shaped container. It is was used to hold candy or a small toy in a vending machine (similar to the plastic ones you still see in grocery stores today). It is marked "Hartwig & Vogel A.-G. Automaten-Abt." They founded the automatic vending machines in 1887. They were located in Dresden and during WWII they produced detonators. The factory was badly damage by the bombing and the company became VEB Tell after the war.

This one is in worn condition. The graphics on the front are hard to make out. It has some light rust spots. Not many of these survived. These were produced up until around 1940 but could just as easily be from the late 1800's.
