• Wehrmacht Apron

  • Description

A very simple apron which has been batch dyed to a reed green color. The Wehrmacht did have aprons, which you usually see in use around the barracks. This is one of the first ones I have found that fits that role. It was clearly nothing too special, it had a few repairs and was originally a white color but has been dyed green the patches appear to be from another green apron that just took the dye differently.

The Wehrmacht dyed a whole lot of their early white stuff green, and many of the early reed green drillich is just white drillich that has been dyed. I have dug through some of these dye lots before and I can tell you they put everything in there: from shirts, underwear, and uniforms, to sweaters, scarves and work wear.

The cloth is rather soft, a little thin, and well used. There are some holes. Still this is a rather neat thing that normally did not survive.
