Original pre-war cigarette sales tin from Germany. All of the text on the tin is in English except for an inscription on the inside where Duke of Edinbourgh is crossed out and in German above Herzog von Edinburg is written. This seems much more like an early 1900's tin.
Garbaty was founded by a Jewish immigrant in Berlin in 1881. The cigarettes were very popular and the company expanded. The family was forced to sell the business in 1938. More information about the brand can be found here.
