This is quite an impressive thing to find. It is an original soldier's favor from the invasion of France in 1940 which was sent home to his children. I have had a few similar things over the years but usually made from fake flowers. It is interesting to see someone press and save real flowers from this time period. It is possible these were just pressed flowers the soldier sent home, but typically these are the little gifts you see women run up to marching soldiers and stick in their pocket. Either way these flowers were worn or carried by a German soldier crossing France in 1940. It is pretty crunchy and one of the flowers fell off as well as a few petals. I have put it in plastic and on a card to keep it as nice as I can.
