WWII Cadet Nurse summer uniform jacket.

    Measurements (approximate):
    Bust - 39"
    Waist - 35"
    Length - 25 1/2
Sleeve (shoulder seam to end of cuff) - 24 1/2"

Striped summer weight tunic. Cadet Nurse patch on one sleeve. Overall very good condition. The buttons show light wear and minor discoloration. The size tag is completely washed out. The main buttons are held on by cotter pins, and the epaulet and pocket buttons by s-hooks. Sewn-in shoulder pads that need re-stitched a bit. Some odd stitching on the chest darts.

This jacket has been laundered and is ready to wear. If you want to clean it again, make sure to remove the buttons or they will rust and stain the jacket.

A little about the Cadet Nurse program: To recruit as many women as possible, the requirements for joining were not set high. Women between the ages of 17 and 35 with high school education and in good health could apply. Marriage as a student was permitted. Cadet nurses received federal funds for tuition, board, room and uniforms (indoor and outdoor) in addition to a regular monthly allowance. Many cadet nurses later became army nurses.
