Description
Original 1940 wood box for 8mm tracer ammo. It would have contained a single cardboard sleeve of tracers. Since you only typically loaded every 5 round or so in an MG belt with tracer ammo they opted for packaging the tracers in an individual box where as more normal ammo would have been packed in a crate usually containing 5 boxes. The condition is not fantastic, but it is pretty typical for these boxes. The side wood typically shrinks and separates. The webbing carrying strap is ripped, and it looks to me like it has ripped twice in its life and was already fixed once as there is a bit of the strap nailed to the lid.
