Original WWII American Red Cross "gray lady" uniform dress and hat. This is the indoor uniform of the Hospital and Recreation Corps.
MEASUREMENTS (approximate):
Bust - 36"
Waist on Dress - 30 1/2"
Waist on Belt - 28"
Hips - 36"
Length - 40 1/2"
Sleeve (shoulder seam to end of cuff) - 23"
Made from a seersucker material. Seersucker was an allowable substitute for cotton poplin in late 1942 / 1943. The hat is approximately a size 20 1/2. Uniform is complete with the removeable button in collar, epaulets and cuffs. Sterigarm label. Size 14.
OK condition; wearable but with some issues. Repair at the back of the neck. Some staining under the arms (I did not notice it until after I had taken photos or I would have tried to launder it). Some small holes on one sleeve. A few scattered pinprick holes. Small rust colored spot by a button towards the bottom.
The red cross patch on the hat is sewn a bit higher than I usually see them. A few tiny pinprick holes. Light black smudge.
