Description
Period (could be pre-war or post) Rotaprint Bakelite typewriter ribbon container / ashtray. A great piece of advertising, this piece has two functions. It was originally a container for typewriter ribbon but after the ribbon is used it becomes an ashtray. You are supposed to push through (break out) the center circle to create a hole for the ashes to fall into. The top can be unscrewed to clean it. The lid has instructions in German, English and French.
Good condition. It is nice just for the fact that it never had the center pushed out. I guess someone thought it was better as a container. It measures about 2 5/8" in diameter.
