Vintage 1940s / 1950s civilian nurse wool cape with the initials M.C.G.H. on the collar. I believe M.C.G.H. stands for Macon County General Hospital near Indianapolis, Indiana.
MEASUREMENTS (approximate):
Neck - 15 1/4"
Shoulders - 18"
Length - 31"
Gray-blue outside, dark red inside. These "private purchase" capes were also worn by Cadet Nurses. Made by Bruck's Nurse's Apparel. The original owner's initials are inside, V.A.R. Interesting buttons with the Seal of the State of Indiana on them. Small chain at the neck to hang it.
It is in OK condition. On the outside, there are several small moth holes and some light staining. Stains by the collar. The inside red lining has several moth holes and some staining as well. No attempt has been made to clean this.
NOTE: The lining looks brighter in the photos than it actually is.
