    Vintage 1940s cornflower blue skirt suit. New York Creation label.

    Hips - 35 1/2"
    Length - 25 1/2"

     

    The top buttons is the back with a nice white yarn design in the front. The material feels like wool. Three-quarter length sleeves. Cute small pockets. Decent-to-good condition with some flaws. There is a small dark spot on the front. The skirt has several repairs. 

     

    History behind the label: The New York Dress Institute was formed in 1941 as a joint venture between the clothing manufacturers of New York City and the ILGWU. Its purpose was to advance the sales of dresses and clothing made in New York by promoting the city as the fashion center of the country.
