Description
German socks from around WWII, they closely match other civilian socks we have had from the mid 30's though we know similar materials and techniques were still being used after the war. They are all roughly a men's US shoe size 10 1/2 - 11 1/2. The foot measures about 11" long (it can stretch to 11 1/2") . They are about 14 1/2" tall. Price is for one pair.
They are from a factory clean out and are new old stock in generally good condition - some may have light storage wear, such as pulls in the material or water damage and may need cleaned. Some have the size tag still on the toe, others do not. The size tag is correct for WWII German. Socks of this pattern were also sold in the officers clothing catalog. Great personal item. It can be difficult to find decent men's footwear and socks this old.
They clearly have a high perlon content which was an early form of nylon used in Germany since the 1930's mostly used for socks and stockings and later in parachutes. They have a slinky feeling in your hand and a sheen like you only seem to find on German made items. The color is a bit hard to describe - it is a pink/purple/tan.
Hand wash, hang dry.
