Original 1937 Hofbrauhaus half liter beer krug. Zur Erinnerung an den Kameradschaftsabend der Firma C.F. Leonhardt, Crossen (Mulde) 1937. Souvenir from the company's Kameradschaftsabend (a traditional social gathering with drinks and dinner, like a company pizza party - better than getting a raise, right?). I was not able to find out much about C.F. Leonhardt company expect that they produced paper items and boxes. And that they employed Ost Arbeiter, female soviet "foreign workers" during the war. The Ost arbeiter are an interesting middle ground, not exactly forced labor, but also not all that much better off in some situations. You can almost think of them as migrant workers, in some cases they can actually do quite well for themselves and were significantly better off compared to the villages they came from, and in other cases they are just trapped and abused.
It is in overall decent, usable condition. There are some tiny surface cracks along the bottom. "G" is marked on the rim (perhaps to help the owner identify it at the event). There is some discoloration and flaws in the glaze. Great item for events to help eliminate farby bottles.
This is a krug, not a stein. Stein is what English speakers and tourists say. In German a stein is a stone. This is a beverage container, not a rock!
