Vintage 1930s/1940s Hygiea safety pins in box. The box contains 20 pins. The pins are not original to the box, however they are vintage new old stock. The box says it originally contained 1 gross (144) of obviously smaller pins. The safety pins that come with the box currently measure just under 2" long. All of the pins are in good condition with no rust. The box shows wear and tear, writing on the bottom and the staples are rusty and loose on the inner portion.

Wartime safety pins are different than modern pins in that one side of the end is a solid piece. They do not make safety pins like this any more or at least not that I can find; perfect for the detail-oriented reenactor.
