"Ich Hab Dich Lieb" Necklace 835 Silver

Vintage German Ich hab Dich lieb (another way to say "I love you") silver necklace. It is marked 835 in two places (the pendant and the chain). Overall good condition. Some light scratches. The chain has discoloration on some links.

"Ich hab Dich lieb" is a less serious version of "I love you" that doesn't have a direct English translation - like "I am very fond of you" or "I hold you dearly." It means more than "I like you". It is a common way to express love and can be used before the official "Ich liebe dich" in a relationship. Although the wording can be blurred even among Germans as far as romantic relationships go - some say its a precursor to "ich liebe dich" and others use them interchangeably. "Hab Dich liebe" can be used in romantic relationships or it can also express close attachment and be used in a platonic way with friends and family whereas "ich liebe dich" is romantic love (as in "I am in love with you").
