This is a fairly typical civilian German hat that was popular for quite some time. This looks to me to be roughly WWII era although it could also be early post war. It is a rather small size, maybe a 55. The brim is coming unsewn a bit and the leather sweat band is a little degraded. The wool is quite nice with no mothing or other damage that I noticed. There does appear to be 2 holes at the crown where one might expect to see an eagle if this was a military hat. Marked inside Escherich & Co. Coburg.
