Late War Single Grommet R.B.Nr. 0/0769/0029 Zeltplanne Zeltbahn No buttons 1 Tone

This is a neat late war zeltplanne or zeltbahn with the manufacturers R.B.Nr.0/0769/0029 stamp in huge print. This is the only zeltbahn I have ever seen which appears to have only a single tone of camouflage, both sides appear to be the same shade.  All of the buttons have been removed. The buttons look like they were removed very early on as this probably would have had steel buttons and there is no rust staining from steel buttons. There are some stains of various kinds (candle wax, grease or oil, general stuff) and some scuffs. Generally speaking it is a nice looking zeltbahn which still has fairly vibrant colors. There are a few very small holes which appear to have been caused by rubbing or being pinched in something.

The two sides are virtually identical in base color. There is no darker or subdued side. I tried to take some comparison pictures, even in person it is very difficult to see much of any difference in the two sides. Maybe one side is a hair darker, maybe, its just too close to call. This doesn't appear to have been caused by fading or anything like that, it was just printed the same on both sides. The material is lighter weight and the print from one side bleeds through to the other and vice versa. This is likely a 1944 or 45 produced piece. The buttons were probably cut off in the post war period to use for other garments or simply to stop them catching on things. I know that farmers in Germany were still wearing zeltbahns to work the fields into the 60's.
