Repro German Mosquito Net
LIMITED QUANTITIES AVAILABLE
Reproduction German mosquito net in a much more correct grass green color with a perfect weave pattern and size match. The crumpled up mess of a net in the photos is an original for color comparison. Most of the examples being used in reenacting are West German nets that are normally a lot smaller and dark forest green or brown which you do not normally see with WWII examples; there is finally a more correct alternative. This is an extremely useful item to have which also doubles as a helmet cover. This was patterned off of several original examples and is large enough to fit over your helmet and still cover your face and neck. There are several original photos showing guys which appear to either be using the mosquito net as a helmet cover or simply leaving it on the helmet and tucking it up when not in use.
This project was spread out across several years as it got shelved for a while and this created some minor variations between nets, all of which are based on other original examples. All basically look like the examples in the photos but some of the details may vary. The white draw cord is fairly common on originals, many were even sewn with white, black, or other random thread colors. All of the main net bodies are based on a folded over one piece design which seems to have been the most common original pattern and one of the big differences between wartime and postwar nets. I tied the draw string ends together just to keep them from pulling through in handling. All nets have a waffen amt stamp.
The nets are brand new but occasionally the sewing machine would make a small hole down around the drawstring area. This would have occurred on originals during manufacturing also so I only sorted out a flawed net if the flaw was really bad. So there may be a small hole, it happens. While I do have a lot more of this material, It may be a while before I make more, so the quantities are very limited.
