  • Description

Very nice example of Soviet 6X30 binoculars with the original carrying case and strap. The overall condition is fairly good with normal wear. The optics are quite clean and usable, although there seems to be a slight misalignment in the prisms, which gives you a little bit of double vision when looking through both sides. The black finish is a bit worn off around the Soviet hammer and sickle, which seems to just be the finish wearing off more easily around the detail of the markings. The eye pieces are intact but they might be German, because I don't recall the Soviet ones having the groove; it might also just be my memory failing me. The binoculars are also complete with the original neck strap and leather eyepiece cover which are worn and show their age, but still in good usable condition.

The case is also quite nice made from leather, canvas and other communist materials. The pads inside are covered in some red and blue faux leather / fabric material. The case also has the original carrying strap. The inside of the lid has a separate compartment for 4 eyepiece shades; unfortunately the shades are not present and from the look of the material, I doubt the shades were ever even in there.

All in all, a very nice example and equally usable in a Soviet or German context. Nearly every pair of these I have seen so far was reused by the Germans, although this one appears to be in its normal Soviet configuration. The German liked to actively scrub out the hammer and sickle which does not look like what was done on this pair.
