Steel Stick Grenade Box Vet Bring Back

Original stick grenade box in decent condition with a good hinge. There is some pitting. The red paint is obviously very old and not the original color of the box it looks like there might be a layer of green and a layer of white underneath. The red does look like a good German primer color. In short, I am not sure if the red paint is post war or a wartime attempt to refurbish it. Many items painted in 1945 were just painted primer red.

I leave the decision to restore it or leave it as it is up to you. It would be a decent box to restore and wouldn't need a whole lot of work. I think you could use it as it sits or restore it. There is only one very small rust-through area on one of the little bump feet. It also has a few dents and dings. There really aren't enough of these boxes displayed at reenactments.
