Extremely nice VM40 volksgasmaske (people's gas mask) in its original carrying can complete with the original canister straps. The can has some dents and wear, but the overall condition is so good its hard to imagine this was not stored well and looked after the past 80 years. The gas mask is virtually like new, with only the yellowed lenses standing out as a detractor. It does still contain some asbestos, so I would not put it on. The canister is still a pretty good example. Every German citizen was required by law to own a gas mask and emergency medical supplies in case of air raids and this is one of them. These ones in cans are typically seen worn by luftschutz personnel or feuerwehr.
