Original WWII first pattern WAVES summer officer's jacket. One of the rarer uniform pieces - this material was only used in the summer of 1943.
MEASUREMENTS (approximate):
Bust - 37 1/2"
Waist - 32"
Length - 24"
Sleeve (shoulder seam to end of cuff) - 23 1/4"
It has the blue "Made and sold under the authority of the U.S. Navy U.S. Women's Naval Reserve" tag. Named to Edna Viola Magnusson. On the pocket inside is the Women's Naval Reserve label with lines for name and rate as well as a tailor's label from Wm. Filne's Sons Co Boston. Small size 16 tag.
It is in good condition overall, but does have some flaws. There is some overall general wear, most noticeable on the sleeves. Some pulls in the material. A couple small stains. The buttons are held in place by cotter pins.
I found an article and photo of her online. The headline misspells her last name (the text is correct)
