Excellent, virtually unissued, SS M44 trousers made in magnificent Italian wool. These are in overall very good condition with only minor indications of use. The markings are a bit blurred. There are a couple tiny holes which are almost invisible, and some wear from age. The two loops on the back intended to hold down the two rear suspender tabs show wear, one is broken and the other is worn rather thin (see pictures). I believe the trousers were probably worn for a very short time. There are still some loose threads from manufacturing. There is a little pulling on some seams which could be from manufacturing defects, stress or weak threads. As for condition, I would say this isn't the best example that exists, but it is easily in the top 10. A beautiful pair of trousers.
The pocket flaps and button fly are lined with synthetic rayon HBT material which is typical for late war SS uniforms. The white lining on the inside is very typical for late war uniforms in general. This late war white cloth is a lovely soft blend of materials with a slight sheen. An unmistakable and distinctive fabric. Actually, I would say these trousers are a collection of some of the most distinctive materials used on German uniforms. The trousers feature the very late war improvised retention loops for the underwear which utilize the suspender button rather than being a separate snap loop. Virtually all SS trousers include the underwear loops and you really don't see a separate loop for them on most issued Wehrmacht trousers, as the suspenders themselves generally serve the same purpose. The larger buttons are glass and the smaller buttons appear to be Italian dyed wood buttons.
The trousers are fairly well pressed and presentable although there are a few wrinkles and dog eared pocket flaps from years of storage. I am sure these were last pressed in 1945 and they have retained that pretty well all things considered.
