A new version of our classic 4.5v German flashlight battery now in a refillable format. Price is for one adapter complete with batteries, ready to use. As long as you can buy AA Batteries, you will have a working flashlight battery. It does fit tight on some battery brands! It took a long time to get around to developing these as a reusable adapter without ruining the look and feel. I have always disliked the adapters commonly available as they just look like awful. This adapter looks like a regular battery. The body and tray are 3D printed resin fitted with simple brass contacts that double as the spring tension for the batteries. The labels are printed on vintage German paper stock and do not bleed when wet. They do still work quite well and offer a similar lifespan to our previous batteries.
IT COMES WITH NEW BATTERIES INSTALLED, you do not need to open it to put new ones in (yet). It is a little tight on certain brands of batteries - if you are rough with it, it will break.
Refill instructions: Grip the battery with both hands with one thumb on either side of the top or bottom and your fingers over the opposite end. Lightly spread the longer sides apart with your thumbs while pushing up on the bottom with your fingers to push the core up and out. You do not have to push hard or bend the sides much, there is only about 1mm of overlap that holds the core in the outer housing. Once you have the tray out, you will probably need an implement to pry up on one end of each battery to remove the old ones as they clip in pretty tightly. Simply install new batteries in the same orientation (Positive to the flat contact and negative to the springy side). The batteries will pop in with a satisfying click. The springs are just bent brass so they may deform a bit, but it is pretty easy to just bend them back to get a good fit. Touch a light bulb to the top metal strips to test before reinstalling. There is very little to go wrong in there, just make sure everything is making good contact. Then just slip it back into the outer case.
This version has a private purchase label. The non-reusable batteries have the Wehrmacht label. We will most likely discontinue the non-reusable version in favor of this version, (although we might offer both types of labels in the future).
