  • Description

Vintage 1943 French language pocket diary with German text written inside. There are several entries and a drawing of a red wine jug and some bugs. This is probably the most I have ever seen one of these little books filled out. It is in OK condition with some wear and some tape on the cover.

I did try to research some of this and I think if you did a complete job on it, it could be interesting. The two Feldpost numbers that are in the book are associated with the same region in southern France, Perpignan near the Spanish border. One of them is more specifically associated with the Befehlsstelle des Zollgrenzschutz Perpignan u. Bezirkskommissariate (G)La Tour de Carol, Mont Louis, Amelie-les Bains u. le Bouton (= Arm) - like a customs officer or something of that nature. Also in the spot where you are supposed to write your name, he has written several different names along with their serial numbers. In the back he has the alphabet written out with various words and or numbers paired to each letter. Many of the day entries consist of a noted time spans followed by a name. I get the feeling this guy was up to something that he needed to keep track of. It might be boring, but there is enough odd stuff here to make me think it could be rather interesting.
