• DGzRS German Maritime Search and Rescue Service Pin

  • $30.00 USD

  • Description

The D.G.z.R.S. (Deutsche Gesellschaft zur Rettung Schiffbrüchiger = German Maritime Search and Rescue Service) is responsible for the maritime search and rescue service in the German areas of the North Sea and Baltic Sea. Founded in 1865 and still active today, it is completely financed by donations. During WWII, the DGzRS rescue fleet sailed under the protection of the Geneva Convention.

The pin is made of celluloid and is somewhat delicate. This was probably something akin to a tinnie - a pin you received if you donated a certain amount.  It is in good condition.
