A very nice completely unmessed with original example of the classic Kaiser Idell desk lamp from the 1930's. It has light wear, but everything is original. The cord, the plug, the switch, even the little adjustment bolts. It's all original and in working order. Many of these little details are frequently replaced or repaired on many lamps. The cord is a little frayed where it connects to the lamp base; it looks like it is pulled out from the base a bit, which is fairly normal for a lamp that's been in use for going on 100 years. There is a bit of black tape around the cord which should be at least partly inserted into the lamp base. The tape seems to have been to protect the wire rather than being a repair but it would be hard to say without removing it. It may be wise to replace the cord, however, it is so rare to find a lamp in all original condition that I can't bring myself to be the one to do it. Even the markings on the plug date this to around the 1930's and what a unique plug it has. It does work quite well and we will be including one of our DE-USA vintage looking lamp plug adapters so you can retain the full look and feel of the original lamp while still using it with an American plug.
Kaiser Idell is the lamp of lamps. Highly adjustable and I believe it may have been the first brand to adopt this now iconic Bauhaus form factor. Clean this lamp up a little and you will have a lamp that makes your desk stand out and get noticed. In Germany, amongst the vintage lamp sellers, the Kaiser Idell is well known and sought after.
