Helion Bakelite Desk Lamp

A very nice original Helion Bakelite desk lamp in good condition and newly rewired. We also include a vintage look Germany to USA plug adapter so the lamp can retain its German heritage and still plug into a normal American outlet.

I cleaned this lamp up a bit and repainted the silver on the underside of the shade, as is was mostly worn off. The metal tube connecting the base and lamp has an even patina which I left alone as it gives the lamp character. The Bakelite base sits on a thick heavy chunk of glass which gives it weight. The glass was repaired at some point, as there is a glued crack down the center of it, which is only visible when you have the lamp taken apart.

This lamp was produced from the 1930's into the post war era. Most parts on this one are made and marked like the older war time models, but the white switch is a post war replacement (although it is actually a common style switch on pre war lamps, this one is East German marked). I find the white plastic switches distracting, but they are absolutely correct and it does give this particular lamp a nice look. This is a very nice lamp with lots of adjustment. If you have need for a classy office set up, this is a stand out piece with a great look. It may ship disassembled slightly, There are 3 small screws that hold the shade on and it is far safer to ship with that removed.
